The Nelson Gallery is located in historic Lexington, Virginia. Founded in 1998, the Gallery moved in 2002 to its present location at 27 West Washington Street. The Gallery is open 11 to 5 daily except Wednesdays and Sundays.

Local artists display their works in the Gallery on an ongoing basis. Art works vary and may include oil paintings, acrylics, pastels, drawings, etchings, watercolors, sculpture, photographs, mixed media, graphite, xerox transfers, assemblages, installations, collages, encaustics, etc.

The Gallery features one or more regional or national guest artists monthly. Receptions to introduce guest artists are usually held on the first Friday of the month, from 5 to 7 pm. A Gallery regular is also featured most months, and the Back Room hosts special community exhibits from time to time.

All Nelson Gallery exhibits and receptions welcome the public free of charge in a friendly and unpressured atmosphere.
